CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support
Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in community settings and clients’ homes who provide support that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater independence, self-reliance, community participation, and wellbeing.
Workers promote a person-centred approach, work in line with individualised plans, and may operate without direct supervision. Some roles may also involve supervising or coordinating a small team.
Entry Requirements
- Demonstrate a satisfactory level of Digital Literacy assessment (LLND) and Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) abilities.
- Hold a current and valid National Police Check (dated within 12 months; online checks accepted).
- Hold a Department of Communities & Social Inclusion (DCSI) Screening Check for working in Aged Care and with Vulnerable People.
- Completion of one of the following:
- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or
- CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or
- CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability plus the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
Course Structure
Duration: 52 weeks
Delivery: Classroom attendance scheduled across all units for the full duration.

- CHCCCS044 – Follow Established Person-Centred Behaviour Supports
- CHCMHS001 – Work with People with Mental Health Issues
- CHCDIS017 – Facilitate Community Participation and Social Inclusion
Elective Units
- CHCDIV003 – Manage and Promote Diversity
- CHCPAL003 – Deliver Care Services Using a Palliative Approach
- HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication
Credit for Prior Learning
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Available for those with related education or experience.
- Credit Transfer: Available for previously completed equivalent units.
